La despenalización mediática del aborto en Colombia: una perspectiva desde El Espectador (2020-2023)
This article analyzes the media agenda of the Colombian newspaper El Espectador regarding the issue of decriminalization of abortion in Colombia between 2020 and 2023. For this purpose, 50 news pieces were examined with the aim of discovering the type of actors mentioned, the type of sources used and the thematic perspective under which this controversy was reported. The objective is to elaborate and analyze the framing, emotional or cognitive, of the media according to the two levels of the agenda. Making use of the normative frameworks provided by authors such as Amartya Sen and Margarita Orozco, the possibility of the configuration of the media agenda on the public agenda is analyzed in terms of the contributions that an adequate coverage of issues such as abortion, which are deeply divisive in society, may represent to the democratic debate.
