Resumen
This article analyzes the influence of emotional dysregulation on eating disorders (EDs) from the perspective of the Symptom Network Theory (SNT). A narrative literature review was conducted using databases (EBSCO, Scielo, Scopus, PubMed, PsycINFO), selecting 50 studies published between 2017 and 2025 that addressed EDs, SNT, and emotional regulation. The reviewed studies included clinical and non-clinical samples of adolescents and adults. Findings show that emotional symptoms such as guilt, shame, and body-related anxiety act as central nodes that maintain and exacerbate EDs. It is concluded that SNT facilitates the identification of specific therapeutic targets and offers a dynamic, transdiagnostic model for understanding eating psychopathology. Moreover, it is recommended to integrate this approach into clinical practice to optimize interventions and improve the understanding of the underlying processes of EDs.
