Estudio descriptivo sobre la prescripción de antibióticos en consultorios veterinarias de la ciudad de Popayán
According to the multiple investigations that have been carried out worldwide, the management of antibiotics by veterinarians has become a topic of discussion due to the use or management they give to these, as it is known the main action of antibiotics has been to control and eradicate microorganisms, but due to malpractice in the action of dosing and supplying these medications to patients can be related to bacterial resistance. In relation to the above, it was decided to carry out a statistical study on the use of antibiotics by veterinarians in the city of Popayán - Cauca in a total sample of (46) small animal veterinary clinics, through which it is sought to identify if the dosage used by veterinarians is the one described by the respective laboratories or veterinary vademecums or if they do not make rational use of these medications, which will be directly reflected in the therapy and health of patients, in addition to directly influencing an issue of utmost importance worldwide such as bacterial resistance. For this purpose, a survey was carried out on the main antibiotics used by veterinarians for the different conditions that patients may suffer in the different systems. All these antibiotics were added to the survey in the form of an active ingredient, where we realized that some veterinarians may confuse the pharmacological active ingredient with the commercial medicine
