Resumen
This paper analyzes the impact of the excessive use of social networks on the socioemotional development of adolescents aged 13 to 16 years. The general objective is to determine the impact on socioemotional development caused by the use of social networks in this age group. The study has a psychopathological approach, since it addresses emotional effects such as anxiety, depression, stress and social skills. The research, which is descriptive in nature and with a mixed design, combines qualitative and quantitative methods to explore the perceptions of a group of adolescents and the socioemotional effects associated with the use of networks such as Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. Several tests were administered, including semi-structured interviews, Addiction to Social Networks Questionnaire (ARS), Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21), and the Social Skills Checklist
