Resumen

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are the leading cause of disability worldwide and significantly affect the working population, particularly individuals engaged in tasks that require prolonged postures, repetitive movements, and extended work shifts. Among them, intermunicipal transport drivers represent an especially vulnerable group due to the physical, cognitive, and operational demands inherent to their job, which include long hours of driving, sustained postures, load handling, and the transportation of passengers. Scientific evidence demonstrates a high prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms among professional drivers both internationally and in Colombia, with the greatest impact observed in the lower back, neck, shoulders, and upper extremities. Factors such as the lack of ergonomic adjustments to the seat and vehicle controls, job tenure, continuous driving time, and the absence of active breaks are consistently associated with an increased incidence of these symptoms.
