Resumen

This study evaluated the effect of different deworming protocols on the hematological and parasitological profiles of Katahdin sheep under field conditions in a farm located in Timbío, Cauca. Treatments included ivermectin + levamisole, albendazole, and copper oxide wire particles. Parameters such as hematocrit, plasma proteins, fibrinogen, leukocyte count, body weight, FAMACHA score, and parasitic load (using McMaster technique) were measured. The COWP treatment proved to be the most effective, showing a significant reduction in eggs per gram (EPG), weight gain, and improvements in hematological and clinical indicators. Signs of anthelmintic resistance were observed in conventional treatments. It is recommended to complement deworming protocols with sanitary and environmental management strategies to mitigate the development of resistance.
