Resumen
The investigation carried out a road safety audit on the sections between K6+000 and K12+000 of the La Romelia – El Pollo road, in order to identify and examine the risk factors present in the road infrastructure. The technical conditions, signage, visibility, and geometric aspects were examined through visual inspections, document reviews, and the implementation of the methodology (Ministry of Transportation, 2015). Deficiencies in some drainage works, the lack of demarcation in several areas, the presence of vehicle containment elements, deteriorated vertical signage, and the difference between observed and designed speeds, which increase the risk of road accidents, were also identified. Critical locations were also identified, including intersections, unofficial access points, and areas with poor visibility. Finally, preventive and corrective measures and a short and medium-term budget are suggested with the aim of optimizing road safety in the section analyzed, putting the protection of all road users first.
