Entre Maderas y mercados: Comercialización ilícita de madera en Colombia

Resumen

This monograph identifies those factors that encourage the commercialization of illegal wood, such as corruption, the lack of order when complying with regulations and the high demand for wood in the local and global markets. The main affected region is the Amazonia, where deforestation threatens local communities and biodiversity. In the same way, the consequences of this activity on international trade for Colombia are raised, with the legal impacts and the current, and enforced laws, agreements or treaties of the country. As a last point, recommendations for sustainable management are proposed, which aim to promote legal and controlled exploitation, benefit local communities and care for forest resources in Colombia.
