Resumen
This project analyzes the technical, economic and environmental feasibility of implementing solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems in VIPA (Housing of Priority Interest for Savings) homes in the city of Pereira, with the purpose of comparing their performance compared to traditional housing. Based on the updated prices of the APU 2025, it was established that the installation of a 2.0 kWp photovoltaic system connected to the grid (Grid-Tie) is the most efficient and profitable alternative, with an investment of approximately 7 million pesos, a return period of 3 to 4 years and the ability to cover up to 100% of the energy consumption in strata 1 homes, 2 and 3. In addition, rainwater harvesting contributes to the reduction of drinking water consumption by 28%, optimizing the water resources of the property. The results demonstrate that sustainable VIPA housing is technically and financially viable, promotes energy efficiency, decreases CO₂ emissions and strengthens environmental commitment, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals and sustainable urban policies in Colombia.
