Resumen
This study analyzes the impact of the ad valorem 40% ad valorem tariff applied to imports of apparel classified under Chapters 61 and 62 of the Customs Tariff in Colombia from 2019 to 2024. Implemented via Decree 2598 of 2022, this measure aims to protect the local industry from low-cost foreign competition, boost domestic production, and reduce the trade deficit.
