Resumen
This study analyzes the application of the Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology in the Pereira Water Treatment Plant (PTAP), aiming to compare the construction costs of the sludge system between the traditional and digital approaches. During the internship at Consorcio Plantas, 3D models were developed in Autodesk Revit, 4D simulations in Navisworks, and activity scheduling in Microsoft Project, integrating time, resources, and costs. The results show that BIM improves interdisciplinary coordination, reduces design errors and generates potential savings in both time and budget. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that adopting BIM in water infrastructure projects enhances efficiency, sustainability, and transparency in public management. This research contributes to the understanding of digital methodologies in the water and sanitation sector, promoting their application in future engineering projects in Colombia.
