Análisis descriptivo y comparativo de imágenes con Image J para el diagnóstico diferencial de quistes y granulomas periapicales

Resumen

The differential diagnosis between periapical cysts and granulomas represents a challenge in dental practice, as both lesions share similar radiographic features that may lead to inaccurate diagnoses and inadequate treatments. In response to this issue, the present project proposes the use of ImageJ software as a primary tool to enhance diagnostic accuracy. The methodology will be carried out in three specific phases: first, the collection of periapical radiographs from patients with such lesions, after obtaining prior authorization; second, the analysis and processing of the images using ImageJ, a software that allows image editing, modification, and programming to differentiate cysts from granulomas without invasive procedures; and finally, the verification of the diagnosis through surgical removal of the lesion, to confirm the accuracy of the program’s results. This approach seeks to provide a complementary diagnostic alternative that strengthens clinical certainty in dentistry
