Resumen
Where is the heart located? The question probes an unease arising from personal crying and what this action implies in the emotional sphere since childhood. Therefore, the symbolism of the heart is addressed from the cardiocentric theory to its transformation into an affective and spiritual symbol. Crying is understood as a cathartic gesture as a consequence of and in direct relation to changes in one’s environment, and thus the research traverses both Aristotelian tragedy and psychoanalysis and Jung’s archetypes, revealing a connection to deeper fears, among them the complex task of understanding identity through the recognition of one’s roots and family origin.
