Resumen
This study aimed to analyze manifestations of school violence and the levels of non-violence management among 4th- and 5th-grade students at Institución Educativa Sevilla (María Inmaculada campus), Sevilla, Valle del Cauca. A structured questionnaire (Likert-type scale) was applied to a purposive sample of 30 students; the data were systematized and organized into categories and dimensions (types of violence and non-violence management). A descriptive analysis was conducted and results were presented using frequency tables and charts. Results show that the most reported types of violence were verbal violence (77% answered “sometimes”), physical violence (67% “sometimes”), and social violence (67% “sometimes”); violence via technological means was not perceived in this sample (100% “never”). Concerning violence perpetrated by teachers, most students perceived it as sporadic (50% “never”; 43% “sometimes”). Regarding non-violence management, the dimensions of coexistence management, training for non-violence, and participation were mainly located between “sometimes” and “frequently,” indicating practices that are present but intermittent. It is concluded that, although extreme forms of violence are not predominant, sustained occurrences of verbal, physical and relational forms demand the consolidation of continuous institutional strategies. It is recommended to strengthen programs on coexistence and socioemotional regulation, institutionalize preventive actions, and promote active participation of the educational community to advance toward a school culture of peace.
