Resumen

Memories of Clay" is an arts-based research project that honors and celebrates the legacy of maternal figures in my life, particularly my five sisters, through the creation of family portraits and mixed-media installations. Inspired by my personal history and the cultural traditions of the Zenú community, this project examines the roles of women in my family, analyzing the impact of maternal upbringing, matriarchal dynamics, and gender roles on family relationships. The creative process began at a crucial moment in my life when, while researching Zenú matriarchy, my mother was battling thyroid cancer. Her passing led me to question my beliefs and spirituality, and I found strength in the art of clay, reconnecting with my roots and deepening my inquiry.
