Resumen
Dental biopelículas are highly relevant in dentistry due to their association with diseases such as dental caries, periodontal disease, and candidiasis, among others. Specific proteins, such as GTFs (glucosyltransferases) and GBPs (glucan-binding proteins), play a crucial role in the formation of these biopelículas. However, recent literature does not provide a detailed analysis of other proteins that may also be involved in this process. The objective of this study was to perform an in silico identification of proteins involved in the biopelícula formation process of Streptococcus mutans, Cándida albicans, and Lactobacillus casei. To achieve this, an advanced literature search was conducted using the deep research algorithm of the Gemini artificial intelligence application in order to take advantage of its advanced search capabilities. This search was carried out using specific keywords related to the adhesion and biopelícula formation processes of the microorganisms of interest. Subsequently, search formulas were generated and applied to the specialized UniProt database to obtain relevant protein sequences and structures. The results of this in silico study provide a broader understanding of the proteins involved in biopelícula formation by Streptococcus mutans, Cándida albicans, and Lactobacillus casei, which may contribute to the development of new strategies for the prevention and treatment of dental diseases associated with these microorganisms.
