Resumen
A transitional vertebra is a congenital anomaly characterized by a vertebra that exhibits the anatomical features of a vertebra from an adjacent region; it occurs at the cervicothoracic, thoracolumbar, lumbosacral, and sacrococcygeal junctions. It is one of the most common congenital anomalies in dogs and cats, and is diagnosed via X-ray, CT scan, and MRI (Magnabosco et al., 2020). The purpose of this document is to describe and report the case of Baloo, a 3-year-old mixed-breed dog presenting with thoracolization of the first lumbar vertebra, evidenced by X-ray and MRI, which show a rib inserted into the first lumbar vertebra on one side.
