La atenas de Suramérica

Resumen

This research-creation project critically examines the designation of Bogotá as the “Athens of South America,” an expression that the cultural imagination has adopted to idealize the Colombian capital as a city undergoing cultural and intellectual development. Such an approach tends to ignore evident problems and avoids criticism of situations such as the misuse of public space for waste disposal, which reveals a marked lack of sense of belonging and collective responsibility; the historical presence of homeless populations; and the deficient management of these issues by different district administrations, which present them as controlled situations or as problems reducible to a change in habits.
