Resumen

Financial inclusion is a determining factor for the economic development of small businesses; however, informal traders continue to face significant barriers to accessing formal credit, which leads them to resort to informal financing mechanisms with unfavorable conditions. In this context, this research aimed to propose an improvement plan oriented toward facilitating access to formal credit for informal traders in the center of Villavicencio, through financial inclusion strategies. The research was conducted under a quantitative approach, descriptive in nature and propositional in scope. In the first and second phases, structured surveys were applied to a representative sample of informal traders, making it possible to identify the main barriers to accessing formal credit and to analyze the impact of informal financing on the development of their economic activities. Finally, in the third phase, an improvement plan is proposed based on current strategies and models applied through the use of strategic planning tools, including SWOT analysis, the CAME matrix, a staged financial inclusion model, and an Impact–Effort prioritization matrix, through which strategies were put forward aimed at strengthening financial literacy, facilitating access to formal microcredit, promoting progressive formalization, and reducing dependence on informal financing.
