Resumen
The design of ventilation systems in critical spaces such as hospitals requires precise pressure loss calculations to ensure proper air circulation. However, the construction of these systems often employs non-conventional fittings whose pressure loss coefficients (K) are not tabulated in the literature, forcing engineers to make approximations that introduce uncertainty into the calculations. This work developed a parametric CFD simulation model to determine the K coefficients of four non-conventional fittings from the NOVATUB catalog (2017): the rectangular elbow with cap, the rectangular elbow with hopper, the reduced conical 90° tee, and the 45° oval elbow. For the simulation in ANSYS Fluent, a model with the k-ω SST approach and galvanized sheet metal roughness was used, validated with standard fittings with errors of less than 15% according to recent literature
