Resumen
University students’ mental health has become an increasing concern due to the rise of emotional difficulties associated with academic, family, social, and economic factors. In recent years, several studies have reported growing levels of anxiety, stress, and depression among university populations, negatively affecting both academic performance and overall quality of life. In this context, the present study aims to analyze the psychosocial factors affecting the mental health of students at Universidad Antonio Nariño, Cartagena campus, in order to propose intervention strategies from the perspective of Social Work within the University Welfare Department. A qualitative and descriptive research approach will be adopted, using semistructured interviews and focus groups as data collection techniques. The study population will consist of undergraduate students enrolled at the institution and selected through purposive sampling. The expected findings will contribute to identifying the main emotional challenges and psychosocial risk factors experienced by students, while providing evidence based recommendations to strengthen institutional actions focused on mental health promotion, prevention of psychosocial problems, and comprehensive student support. Ultimately, the study seeks to contribute to the development of healthier and more supportive university environments.
