Resumen
Population aging is one of the most relevant social phenomena of the 21st century, with a sustained increase in the population over 60 years of age that poses challenges in public health, social policies and community well-being. Mental Health in late adulthood becomes a central axis, it can directly influence self-esteem, social ntegration and quality of life. However, in Latin America a gap persists between what is normative and what is practical, which limits the effectiveness of public policies in this field
