Violencia de género y su influencia en la autoestima de dos mujeres adultas en la localidad 3 en el barrio Nelson Mandela de la Ciudad de Cartagena.

Resumen

Gender-based violence constitutes a major social and public health problem due to its persistent effects on women's mental health and psychological well-being, particularly their self-esteem. This research aims to analyze the effects of gender-based violence on the self-esteem of women residing in the city of Cartagena de Indias, specifically in the Nelson Mandela neighborhood. A qualitative approach with a descriptive-interpretive design is adopted, oriented towards understanding the experiences, meanings, and perceptions that the participants attribute to the violence they have experienced and its impact on the construction of their self-worth. Data collection will be carried out through semi-structured interviews with women who have experienced some type of gender-based violence. The analysis of the information will be developed through thematic content analysis, allowing the identification of patterns, categories, and emerging meanings in the participants' discourses. The results are expected to demonstrate how physical, psychological, emotional, sexual, and economic violence progressively deteriorates self-esteem, limits personal autonomy, and strengthens dynamics of emotional dependency. Furthermore, the findings are projected to provide theoretical and empirical foundations for the design of psychological and social intervention strategies aimed at strengthening self-esteem, emotional recovery and promoting the autonomy of women victims of gender violence in vulnerable contexts.
