Resumen
Gender-based violence against women constitutes one of the most widespread forms of human rights violations worldwide. This social problem has profound repercussions on women’s lives, affecting not only their physical integrity but also their emotional well-being, autonomy, and opportunities for personal and social development. This research article aims to analyze the psychological impact of gender-based violence on women. The study focuses on women in the final semester of the Social Work undergraduate program at Universidad Antonio Nariño, Cartagena campus. It addresses the origin and dynamics of the generation of gender-based violence in society toward these students. Likewise, it identifies the risk factors associated with its persistence and the protection mechanisms aimed at its prevention. The relationship between gender-based violence and mental health impacts is evidenced, using a qualitative method to collect information through interviews and focus groups. This approach allows for a deeper understanding of women’s experiences and how gender-based violence affects their emotional well-being, providing input for the design of intervention strategies from the perspective of Social Work.
