Prevalencia de garrapatas en bovinos en dos municipios (bolivar y mercaderes) del sur del departamento del cauca

Resumen
Cattle can present different conditions caused by ticks, including diseases such as (Anaplasmosis, Babesiosis and Trypanosomiasis), skin trauma, decrease in production, weight loss, thus being considered one of the ectoparasites that most influence economic losses in livestock farms, standing out as one of the most representative species (Rhipicephalus microplus). The objective of the project was to determine the prevalence of ticks in cattle and the degree of infestation in each of the properties of two municipalities in southern Cauca (Bolívar– Mercaderes). The sampling was carried out in 32 farms, of which 22 farms located in Mercaderes and 10 farms in Bolívar. A total of 384 cattle were sampled, 68% in the municipality of Mercaderes and 32% in the municipality of Bolívar. Tick collection was carried out at random in 12 cattle from each farm without discriminating age, race or sex. With elation to the prevalence of ticks, for the case of Bolívar if he holds a porcentaje of 74% positive cases and 26% of negative cases on the total of animals 120; for the case of Mercaderes 61% of cases positivos and 39% of cases negativos. Regarding the degree of infestation, the great mayor of the animals in one of the municipalities present an average infestation with 61 animals in the case of Bolivar and 124 for the municipality of Mercaderes.
