Resumen
The present work of monograph was carried out in order to describe the generalities of the guinea pig species (Cavia porcellus), in what corresponds to the pathophysiology in the digestive part and nutritional needs; For this, it was necessary to take into account aspects such as identifying the peculiarities of the guinea pig anatomy and the pathophysiology of the digestive system, determining the nutritional needs and defining the most common diseases or pathologies of the guinea pig. In this sense, the methodology that was used to carry out the objectives of the study was a documentary review of the state of the art making use of the main articles and studies at the national, international and local levels in Colombia that were fundamental in the evaluation of the digestive system.
