Resumen
The monograph presented below outlines the parenting styles that serve as protective factors against psychoactive substance use. To this end, a qualitative description is provided of the influence of parenting styles on substance use behavior in adolescents, addressing it from various relevant perspectives. Therefore, the document addresses the following: first, this first chapter covers the concept of psychoactive substances and the general background of substance use, leading to an examination of their prevalence in Colombia and the departments with the highest rates, with particular attention to the Cauca Valley. This allows for a shift from a general perspective to a specific one within Colombia.
