Resumen
This research has analyzed the economic situation that the hotel and tourism sector is going through, due to the global pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus. Through the development of the proposed objectives, it is intended to determine the factors that influenced the negative impact on the sector under study, as well as the recommendations to face the challenges of the new provisions to counteract the damage that preventive isolation may cause in the tourist and hotel areas of the city of Santa Marta. As a general objective of the research, it has been proposed to analyze the financial effect on SMEs in the tourism sector in Santa Marta, due to confinement as a consequence of the global pandemic generated by the Covid-19 virus. The development of this objective was based on the descriptive research approach, through the analysis of the factors that are influencing economic losses in the tourism sector in the city of Santa Marta, specifically in the hotel sector, finally proposing preventive alternatives that allow economic stability while the state of prevention lasts, until the moment of reactivation of economic activities in the tourism and hotel sector.
