Resumen
The fundamental reason for this work is to investigate the forms of knowledge transmission as a persistence of tradition in popular festivals. In this case, the tradition studied is the dance forms associated with traditional music within the Blacks and Whites Carnival of Pasto, one of the most emblematic popular festivals in Colombia, and—more specifically—the staging of these dances by the Los Danzantes del Cerrillo Choreographic Collective for the 2018 event. The object of study was observed seeking to identify the features that can be considered traditional and that still remain in the festival within the specific categories of dance aesthetics and its logical connection with the music, but focusing particularly on how these characteristic features remain and are transmitted today from a past that validates them as part of these manifestations.
