Resumen
Periodontal disease (PD) affects the supporting tissues of the tooth and is the second most prevalent disease of the oral cavity, after dental caries, having a high prevalence worldwide. The figures for PD in the world continue to attract attention, due to the fact that the generation of therapeutic programs has advanced considerably. However, being a disease of a multifactorial nature, its control turns out to be a challenge.
