Resumen

This study addresses the problem of limited access to financing faced by Colombian entrepreneurs, largely due to restrictive conditions in traditional banking and the lack of diverse credit alternatives. To overcome these constraints, the research explores crowdfunding as a collective financing tool that not only provides resources but also offers visibility and early validation for projects. The study adopts a qualitative and descriptive approach, incorporating a literature review and a comparative analysis of 12 crowdfunding platforms operating in Colombia. Through a SWOT-type assessment, it examines strengths, opportunities, weaknesses, and threats at both the business model level and in terms of feasibility for entrepreneurs. Findings reveal that crowdfunding offers advantages such as democratized access to capital, the formation of supportive communities, and the ability to validate ideas prior to market launch. Nevertheless, challenges also emerge, including intense competition, platform fees, and the need to comply with specific regulatory requirements. It concludes that crowdfunding can be a viable alternative to reduce barriers to financing, provided that campaigns are strategically designed, local regulations are observed, and trust networks are cultivated with potential investors.
