Women's political participation and empowerment in the 21st century: an Ibero-American approach to build a bioethical stance

Resumen
Purpose/Context. This article seeks to categorize the issues described in the empirical studies on the most prominent concepts and research in the field of political participation and empowerment, to help build a position from Bioethics for women.Methodology/Approach. A qualitative literature review, descriptive type, bibliographic search, recovery of studies, systematization, selection, primary analysis, evaluation and analysis by themes. The analysis focuses on Ibero-America, since it encompasses research with similar characteristics in the object of study, women in their various dimensions and how the field of women's participation and empowerment is viewed in the countries of the region. Results/Findings. Out of 63 documents, the topics found are addressed as follows: 19% refer to bioethics and gender; 35% refer to women's political participation; 17% of the texts deal with gender studies and the remaining 29% of the articles refer to women's empowerment. Discussion/Conclusions/Contributions. There is no empirical production on women's political empowerment in the Bioethics perspective. The need to build our own developments from Bioethics from a feminist and gender perspective is highlighted.
