Resumen

Positive Psychology is an approach to psychology that studies positive experiences, positive individual characteristics and institutions that promote their potentialization and that significantly affect the quality of life of individuals, in addition to contributing to the absence or reduction of psychopathologies. Within the contribution of Positive Psychology, the importance of flowering is highlighted, which is achieved through several elements, among which we highlight positive emotions that contribute to the well-being of individuals. This study presents the results of a literature review of positive emotions and physical and mental health, from the perspective of positive psychology from 2013 to 2018. From this review, the relationship between positive emotions and physical and mental health is determined, by consulting the Scopus and Proquest databases. The results yielded relevant evidence on the beneficial relationship between positive emotions and physical and mental health constructs. It is concluded that there is a higher percentage of empirical studies 77.1% (27) than theoretical 22.9% (8) and according to the components of physical health and mental health it was found that the highest percentage of studies addressed components of mental health (71.4%), followed by physical health (17.1%) and the remaining articles study the two components (3.7%).
