Resumen

This paper presents an analysis of the basic or subsistence consumption used in Colombia for the provision of subsidies to the electricity service. The obtained results show that the consumption calculated in different regions presents different values, even when the populations are located at similar altitudes. When making a comparison with other countries, it is evident that the methodology used in Colombia for subsistence consumption and subsidies is unique and it can require a modification that allows it to be more technical and sustainable.
