Plataforma de Comercio Electrónico para pequeños y medianos productores de café

Piedrahita Muñoz, John AlejandroAsesor: Quintero Prada, Andrés

Coffee is one of Colombia's most important agricultural products, placing the country as the third largest global exporter, known for its high-quality beans. In regions like Risaralda, especially in municipalities such as Mistrató, coffee production is vital for many farming families. La Floresta farm is a typical small-scale producer facing challenges in marketing and managing its processes effectively. According to data from the National Federation of Coffee Growers, 96% of Colombian coffee farmers are small producers, highlighting the need for tailored technological solutions. The Luna Oscura project aims to digitize management and sales through an online store and an internal system to handle inventory, production, sales, and reporting. Most small producers lack digital tools, limiting growth and competitiveness. Accessible web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, Express, and MySQL will be used, designed to work in rural areas with limited connectivity. The pilot project will run from May to November 2025, with potential expansion to other farms. Currently, coffee production remains an economic pillar with over 540,000 families involved. Manual management causes inventory issues, reporting gaps, and reliance on intermediaries, limiting access to new markets. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted digital channels' importance, as producers with digital sales maintained up to 85% of sales compared to a 60% drop for those using traditional methods. Thus, developing a digital platform like Luna Oscura is critical to improving profitability, sustainability, and preserving coffee traditions in Mistrató.
