Tejiendo matemáticas desde la raíz: educación matemática crítica en territorios vivos

Ariza Huertas, Nhwrix Leandro · Cardenas Arias, Maria PaulaAsesor: Guerrero Recalde, Nestor Fernando

Mathematics education in Colombia faces major challenges in regions such as Catatumbo, Arauca, and Meta, which are affected by armed conflict, social exclusion, and state neglect. These conditions limit educational opportunities, despite the cultural richness and community knowledge that exist. In this context, Critical Mathematics Education is proposed as a pedagogical alternative that links mathematics with the social reality of students, promoting critical thinking and social transformation. The virtual internship developed at the IN-JU HUELLAS Foundation, under the Participatory Action Research approach, enabled a dialogue of knowledge between trainee teachers and children from these regions. Through virtual meetings and systematization using field diaries, it was evident that the integration of mathematical content with the local context and knowledge promotes meaningful learning and strengthens identity and citizen participation.
