Diseño de una guía ilustrativa de la flora local del municipio de Istmina, Chocó, como estrategia pedagógica para la enseñanza de las ciencias naturales
This undergraduate project, carried out as part of an internship, aimed to design an illustrated guide to the local flora of the municipality of Istmina, Chocó, serving as a pedagogical strategy for teaching Natural Sciences. The project involved observational field trips across various locations in the municipality, accompanied by photographic documentation and the identification and characterization of plant species. A total of 12 species belonging to 10 botanical families were identified; basic morphological characteristics and various ecological and cultural uses were described for each. Documented uses included medicinal and insecticidal applications, as well as uses in perfume making and beauty care. Based on the gathered information, an illustrated guide was created, integrating basic scientific data, hand-drawn illustrations, and visual elements to facilitate species recognition. Additionally, pedagogical activities were proposed to utilize the guide as a teaching resource in Natural Sciences education. The project resulted in a contextualized educational resource that fosters the recognition and appreciation of local flora while offering an alternative way to strengthen Natural Sciences learning by drawing upon the students' immediate environment.
