This research addresses the characterization and recovery of the automation architecture of a decommissioned industrial stamping plant, through the analysis of its control, communication and radio frequency identification subsystems. A complete survey of the process inputs and outputs was carried out, along with the reconfiguration of the industrial network integrating the devices. Based on this characterization, the control program was developed on a Siemens S7-1500 PLC, together with a touch panel human-machine interface and a web services application, both implemented in the TIA Portal engineering environment. Functional validation established a statistical characterization of the stamping time from the record of each process iteration. Finally, the resulting configuration was documented in a Spanish-language operating manual intended for users without prior experience in the Siemens ecosystem.
