Juego de cartas sobre redes tróficas como estrategia didáctica para fortalecer la habilidad de trabajo en equipo en estudiantes de secundaria
The purpose of this study was to understand the impact of a teaching strategy based on a card game about food webs on strengthening teamwork skills among sixth-grade students at Colegio Aquileo Parra in Bogotá. The proposal arose from the difficulties students experienced in understanding food webs from a systemic perspective, as well as from the need to promote soft skills, particularly teamwork, which are considered essential for comprehensive education. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach and an interpretive phenomenological perspective. A pedagogical intervention consisting of eight sessions was implemented, addressing topics related to ecosystems, biotic and abiotic factors, biomass, energy flow, food webs, anthropogenic factors, and invasive species. As the main strategy, a card game consisting of 152 cards organized into different categories was designed. This strategy was complemented by the application of the Belbin Team Roles test to form teams and the use of the TeamUP rubric to assess the development of collaborative work skills. The results revealed a gradual improvement in students’ understanding of food webs and ecosystem functioning. A progression was observed from descriptive and linear explanations toward interpretations that increasingly incorporated concepts such as energy flow, anthropogenic factors, invasive alien species, and connectivity among ecosystems. Although some students continued to experience difficulties in understanding the complexity of ecological relationships, the intervention promoted a gradual conceptual reorganization supported by discussion, problem-solving, and collaborative work. Similarly, progress was identified in skills related to communication, cooperation, group organization, and decision-making, demonstrating that the strategy also contributed to the progressive strengthening of teamwork skills. Finally, it was concluded that the card game constituted a relevant and appropriate teaching strategy for learning about food webs, as it integrated disciplinary knowledge with the development of soft skills and encouraged active student participation throughout the learning process.
