Resumen
This research explored the effectiveness of human sensory interconnection as a method for managing anxiety in university students. The objective was to determine whether multisensory stimulation through visual, auditory, and olfactory stimuli can reduce stress-induced anxiety levels. A quantitative experimental design was employed with 80 participants from the Universidad de San Buenaventura Medellín, divided into control and experimental groups. The methodology included administering the state anxiety test from the IDARE, exposure to color projections synchronized with classical music via MATLAB, auditory stimulation with classical music, and lavender aromatherapy. The experimental group underwent a verbal arithmetic stress test before the sensory intervention. Results showed that anxiety increased significantly after the stress test but decreased considerably following combined sensory stimulation. Statistically significant differences were found between the post-stress and post-stimulation moments, with music and colors being the most effective stimuli. It is concluded that sensory interconnection could constitute an effective tool for anxiety management, with practical applications in educational and clinical contexts as a complementary emotional regulation strategy.
