Student teachers’ use of GenAI in lesson planning and material design in the academic practicum of the Licenciatura en Bilingüismo con Énfasis en Inglés from the Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira

This research project presents a qualitative case study design on the student teachers’ use of GenAI for their lesson planning and material design processes. The study aims to explore how student teachers, from the Teaching Practicum in Secondary Education course, use GenAI models for class planning and course material design in their practicum development. Instruments such as semi structured interviews and artifacts were used for this exploration. The results yield student teachers’ dependent and acritical use of the GenAI tools for their lesson planning and material design. This paper might contribute to understanding student teachers’ use of GenAI for future studies as first insights and broaden the scope of AI applications in education.
