This extension project has the purpose of developing English oral skills in 3rd graders from a public school in Pereira, through translingual spaces with physical activities and sports. Its main concept is translanguaging, which has been deeply explored by Garcia, Wei, Cummings, among others, recognizing the interrelated use of two or more codes in a language learning context in order to support the communicative repertoire of emergent bilinguals. Following a qualitative, descriptive approach, the data collection instruments used in this study were field diaries, lesson plans, and observations. All data was analyzed and expressed through coding. The results revealed that students used their prior knowledge and their L1 as scaffolding techniques for the comprehension of the workshop topics in L2. Besides, the project confirms that physical activities are great complements for language skills development as its kinesthetic focus allows the use of multilingual cues facilitating the learning process.
