Reflection, a vital aspect for ESL teachers´s profesional development ang growth

This paper presents a reflective teaching project grounded in the use of the European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Languages (EPOSTL) as a methodological framework. The aim is to critically reflect upon the teaching practicum of a pre-service ESL teacher and identify strengths, challenges, and pedagogical strategies for professional development. This is a descriptive and reflective study based on a qualitative self-assessment approach. Data were collected through reflective journals, lesson plans, and EPOSTL descriptors, which guided the analysis of teaching competencies during the practicum. Findings are expected to show how the EPOSTL fosters more conscious and structured reflection, allowing novice teachers to identify areas for improvement and make informed decisions based on theory and classroom experience.
