¿How can role play be used to support speaking skills in students aged 8 to 12 at the Instituto ACES pre-university in Dosquebradas?

This project aims to reflect how role play can be implemented as a strategy for improving pronunciation.In relation to this, it was conducted with beginners aged 8 to 12 at the Instituto ACES pre-university.The methodology was based on the theater based approach, which was used to reinforce oral skills by integrating role play activities to encourage students to use English in a communicative context.This extension project aligns with the principles of action research by following cycles of reflection that include planning,acting,observing and reflecting. Data was collected through Field Diaries, Students’ Products, audios recording and Rubrics. Outcome indicated that theater based promotes students to develop their pronunciation abilities by repeating some patterns within isolated words and increasing their active participation in a friendly learning environment. Likewise, students showed an initial improvement in vocabulary use and pronunciation.Furthermore, the implementation process contributed to the professional development of pre service teachers by strengthening reflective practice, classroom management, flexible, adaptability, and student centered strategies.
