Peer Assessment Strategy to Help Middle and High School Students Engage in their English Learning Process

This action research study was conducted in a public educational institution in Antioquia to explore the implementation of peer assessment as a strategy to improve students’ oralcommunication skills. The research contextualizes the academic context, defines the objectives, and key concepts related to peer assessment. This study details the interventions applied,including the use of evaluation rubrics, and examines the responses of 7th and 11th-grade studentgroups to the action plan. The study presents the research findings and critically analyzes the effectiveness of peer assessment as a functional strategy for secondary school students. Emphasis is placed on how peer evaluation contributes to skill development, student engagement, andcollaborative learning. The results provide valuable insights into the potential benefits and challenges of integrating peer assessment within the secondary education framework, highlighting student's role in learning and improving oral proficiency. This investigation adds to the growing evidence supporting peer assessment as an effective pedagogical tool in diverse secondary school contexts.
