Podcast: estrategia para el fomento del pensamiento científico en la formación sociológica

Resumen

This article proposes the use of educational podcasts as a learning strategy to foster scientific thinking among sociology students. It highlights the central role of scientific thinking skills in sociological education in Colombia, traces the reported challenges in developing these skills during professional training, presents a proposal for the creation of audio-based learning sequences, and identifies the potential benefits of using podcasts to enhance scientific thinking skills among university students. The centrality of these skills is supported by analyzing their presence in graduate profiles, guiding principles, and learning objectives outlined in the educational projects of three sociology programs at public universities. Identified challenges were based on a document review. The audio-based learning sequence was developed as a framework for creating educational podcast scripts. The potential benefits were explored through an exploratory study in which the audio sequence was implemented in two research courses within the Sociology Department at the University of Antioquia. The overall conclusion is that podcasts have the potential to enhance the learning of scientific thinking skills and to engage students by helping them understand the relevance of these skills in their professional lives.
