The documentary A una mecha de distancia aims to articulate narratives from the traditional, modern, and sporting dimensions of tejo in Colombia, while also including fragments of the manufacturing processes behind the game, which directly impact these three areas. Although tejo is the national sport and part of the nation's intangible cultural heritage, the media content representing it is often narratively fragmented; most portrayals focus on only one aspect, isolating its popular dimension from its urban evolution and sporting rigor. It is essential to group these perspectives to collectively construct the identity of tejo and foster a sense of belonging toward this ancestral practice. Through a qualitative approach, involving video documentation and interviews with key figures from these environments, and the combination of the observational and interactive documentary styles, an audiovisual product was created. This piece highlights family tradition as the primary unifier of the different aspects of tejo and its promotion for the conservation of this cultural manifestation. In this way, the film invites the audience to understand tejo as an integral discipline and a pillar of contemporary Colombian identity.
