Resumen
In Colombia, informally constructed houses constitute a significant portion of the residential building stock, particularly in rapidly urbanizing regions such as Sabana Centro. These dwellings are often incrementally constructed without engineering supervision. A common structural system consists of unreinforced masonry (URM) walls made of horizontally perforated clay bricks with low-strength mortar, combined with reinforced concrete (RC) frames characterized by small sections and poor confinement. This thesis aims to advance the understanding and quantification of the seismic performance of these houses through a multi-phase methodology, including on-site inspections, archetype generation, and nonlinear static and dynamic analyses to derive seismic fragility functions.
